Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As Easter Sunday approaches, many families and friends are planning to spend the day at El Dorado East Regional Park. With 388 acres of open space and a variety of amenities, the park is a popular destination for holiday celebrations. In preparation for the busy day, the City of Long Beach has released some important rules and tips for visitors to make the most of their time at the park.
Located at 7550 S. Spring St., El Dorado East Regional Park offers picnic areas, playgrounds, bicycle trails, and more. It is known to be particularly busy on Easter Sunday, making it important for visitors to plan ahead and follow park guidelines.
The park will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with all visitors required to leave by closing time. A holiday parking rate of $9 per car will be in effect, with cashless payment options such as debit, credit, prepaid credit cards, and smart pay accepted. For those without access to these payment methods, day tickets can be purchased at the park office located next to the Archery Range inside Gate 2.

Gate 2 will serve as the main entrance to the park and will be accessible from both the south and north sides of Spring Street. Left-hand turn lanes will be closed for safety purposes. Additionally, a new entrance at Gate 4 will be available exclusively for annual pass holders and those using cashless payment options. This entrance is located off Wardlow Street (7575 E. Wardlow Rd.).
All vehicles must display either a day ticket or annual pass while visiting the park. Parking on grassy areas is strictly prohibited unless in designated areas; violators may face citations or towing.
To accommodate the high volume of visitors expected on Easter Sunday, extra parking and picnic space will be available in Area 3 north of Wardlow Road. Signs will direct visitors to an overflow lot if needed, but it is important to note that parking may not be near their desired picnic location. Visitors are also reminded not to block traffic flow and that drops-offs or unloading are not permitted on Spring Street or Wardlow Road.

To avoid disappointment, park officials advise arriving early as gates may close once the lots reach capacity. In the event of a closure, vehicles exiting the park will not be allowed re-entry.
For those planning to use the barbecue grills, picnic areas, and other amenities, it is important to note that they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The El Dorado Frontier Theme Park and El Dorado Nature Center will be closed on Easter Sunday in observance of the holiday. However, Long Beach Animal Care Services will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with pet adoption hours from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
For more information about El Dorado East Regional Park and its amenities, visitors can visit the park's webpage at LBParks.org or call 562.570.1745. Updates and announcements can also be found on the El Dorado Nature Center and Regional Park Facebook page.
