Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach has taken a step towards modernizing its vital records system with the launch of VitalDirector, an online platform that streamlines the application process for birth and death certificates. This new platform, provided by Permitium after a competitive selection process, allows residents to easily manage the processing, payment, and issuance of vital records from anywhere.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement about the new platform, stating that it will make it easier for Long Beach residents to access their vital records. He also highlighted the user-friendly nature of VitalDirector and its ability to provide fast and convenient online requests for certified copies of birth and death certificates.
VitalDirector not only improves processing times but also enhances security measures and ensures compliance with all legal requirements for vital records. Users can choose to have their requested records mailed directly to them or pick them up from the City's Vital Records Office at the Main Health Facility on Grand Avenue. They will be notified via email, phone call, or text message when their requests are approved and ready for pick up or delivery.

According to Health Department Director Alison King, implementing online applications reflects a proactive approach to meeting the evolving needs of the community. Online birth and death certificates are now available for individuals who were born or died in Long Beach since 2019. Requests can be made by visiting the VitalDirector website.
The fees for birth certificates are $32 and $24 for death certificates, with additional service fees applied for using the new VitalDirector online service. However, in-person services at the Vital Records Office are still available for those who prefer it. These services include requesting birth and death certificates, registering out-of-hospital births, and obtaining burial permits.
For more information on VitalDirector and its services, residents can visit www.longbeach.gov/vitalrecords. The City of Long Beach is committed to providing convenient and efficient ways for its residents to access their vital records, and VitalDirector is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
