The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) and local hearing health organizations raise awareness and funds, including a silent auction for XanderTM Captioning Glasses valued at $4999 through June 27.
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Californer -- The Long Beach Walk4Hearing will take place on Saturday, May 31, at Shoreline Park, 200 Aquarium Way, Long Beach. This annual awareness and fundraising event by the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is among 19 others taking place around the United States from May through November. The HLAA Walk4Hearing began in 2006, making this its 20th year.
Event check-in, exhibit tables and children's activities begin at 9:30 a.m., with a presentation at 11 and the 5k walk through Shoreline Village and along the waterfront starting at 11:15, with free snow cones provided by Kona Ice afterwards. There will also be an opportunity drawing on-site for door prizes. Individuals, families and teams in the South Bay, Orange County and Los Angeles communities will participate in the Walk, raising funds for programs that bring hope to hearing loss. There is no cost to sign up or attend.

In addition, Xander has generously donated a pair of its innovative XanderTM Captioning Glasses, valued at $4999, to aid in fundraising efforts.* This self-contained wearable device projects accurate speech-to-text captions on the lens in real time, helping people with hearing loss to understand and participate in conversations. A silent auction is being held online through June 27, open to any adult California resident. Proceeds will benefit the HLAA California State Association (HLAA-CA).
National 2025 Walk4Hearing co-chairs are Robert Engelke, president of CapTel Captioned Telephones, and Brandon Sawalich, president and CEO of Starkey Hearing. Both companies are national sponsors and leading HLAA Hear for Life partners, along with Cochlear Americas. Other national sponsors: BLUEMOTH Hearing and ReSound (champions), Hamilton CapTel, Hearing Industries Association (HIA), MED-EL, Sony, Sorenson and T-Mobile (advocates). Local Long Beach Walk4Hearing sponsors: Xander Glasses (platinum) and Pacific Neuroscience Institute (bronze), plus 25 nonprofit Alliance partners.
