Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson will be delivering the highly anticipated 2026 State of the City Address on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Terrace Theater located at 300 E. Ocean Blvd. This year's theme, "A Future Built by All of Us," will celebrate and recognize the diverse and vibrant community that makes up Long Beach.
As the city's leader, Mayor Richardson will use this platform to update citizens on the progress made in key areas such as housing affordability, homelessness prevention, neighborhood safety, infrastructure, and city services. He will also highlight the success of the Grow Long Beach initiative which has brought new jobs, major investments, and expanded opportunities for small businesses and local residents.
In addition to discussing current achievements, Mayor Richardson will also look towards the future of Long Beach as a global destination for arts, culture, and major events. This includes updates on city planning efforts leading up to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as exciting developments in live entertainment, local sports, cultural programming, and community spaces.

The State of the City Address is open to the public free of charge. Those who are unable to attend in person can watch a livestream on various City social media pages including Facebook (@LongBeachCity), Twitter (@LongBeachCity), YouTube (@LongBeachCityCA), and on Mayor Richardson's Facebook page (@LongBeachMayor). The event will also be broadcasted on Long Beach Television at LBTV3.com.
For those attending in person, an RSVP is required. Food and beverages will be available for purchase before and after the address inside the Terrace Theater Lobby and outside on the plaza. Doors to the theater lobby will open at 4:30 p.m. Free parking for cars will be available in Convention Center parking lots located at 400 Seaside Way.
To ensure accessibility for all community members, interpretation services in Spanish, Khmer, Tagalog, and American Sign Language will be provided. Closed captioning will also be available at the event and on the livestreams.
