This financial gift will support combating L.A. County homelessness.
LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Shelter Partnership, a non-profit organization established in 1985 to combat Los Angeles County homelessness, has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the S. Mark Taper Foundation. This generous funding will support the work of Shelter Partnership's S. Mark Taper Foundation Shelter Resource Bank warehouse project.
The S. Mark Taper Foundation Shelter Resource Bank is among the largest homeless resource distribution programs in the nation. Annually, more than 200 community organizations directly serving the homeless in Los Angeles County receive donations from the warehouse project. All donated items are new and distributed free of charge. Since its founding in 1989, the program has distributed more than $240 million worth of nonperishable goods such as: clothing, shoes, children's toys, personal hygiene products, toiletry products, diapers, furniture, bedding items, and household goods to the homeless of greater Los Angeles.
Shelter Partnership's Founder and Executive Director Ruth Schwartz stated, "The Board and staff of Shelter Partnership are thrilled with the S. Mark Taper Foundation for its leadership and support of our efforts to address the basic needs of the 59,000 homeless individuals in L.A. County."
