NEW YORK, Dec. 9, 2024 ~ NPower, a leading national tech training nonprofit, has recently received a generous $1 million grant from the Northrop Grumman Foundation. The grant will be paid over a two-year period and will support the expansion of NPower's SkillBridge Cybersecurity program. This program is a Department of Defense (DOD) initiative that helps active-duty service members transition into civilian careers in the tech industry.
Bertina Ceccarelli, CEO of NPower, expressed her gratitude for the grant and highlighted the importance of supporting military-connected individuals and veterans in their transition to civilian life. She stated that these individuals bring valuable skills such as technical expertise, risk management, and critical thinking to the industry. With Northrop Grumman's support, NPower aims to expand its tech-training programs and support services for these populations while also addressing the nation's increasing demand for skilled tech talent.
The $1 million grant from Northrop Grumman will contribute to NPower's goals in several ways. Firstly, it will allow them to launch new tech training hubs in the western United States. These hubs will be located near Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and Naval Station San Diego, enabling NPower to better serve program participants in California, Arizona, Utah, and other Western states.

Additionally, with its expanded geographical presence, NPower will be able to double its current service member capacity from 250 to 500 active-duty service members. This will increase access to hands-on instruction and professional development resources for these individuals.
Furthermore, through coordinated expansion efforts, NPower is committed to serving an additional 580 veterans and military spouses by 2026. This includes a targeted growth of 276 individuals in 2025 and 304 in 2026.
Agartha Larbi, vice president of global corporate responsibility at Northrop Grumman and president of the Northrop Grumman Foundation, emphasized their company's commitment to supporting military members. She stated that programs like NPower's SkillBridge Cybersecurity are crucial in helping veterans gain valuable technical skills for their transition to meaningful civilian careers. Larbi also mentioned that this program helps create a pool of top-tier technical talent for leading defense technology companies like Northrop Grumman.
NPower and Northrop Grumman have maintained a strong partnership since 2017, with Northrop Grumman sponsoring over 14 internship placements and playing a key role in expanding cybersecurity training and apprenticeship opportunities in Maryland. Several Northrop Grumman employees have also shown their personal commitment by mentoring NPower students, serving on the regional advisory board, and advocating for the program. The company continues to support NPower's workforce development initiatives by offering competitive employment opportunities to NPower graduates through apprenticeships, internships, and job placements in IT and cybersecurity roles.
