FULLERTON, Calif. - Californer -- Dr. Dallas Stout has been honored with a 2022 Vision Initiative Program award by the Picerne Family Foundation. The Picerne Family Foundation created the Vision Initiatives Program to foster, and support accomplished and motivated mental/behavioral health professionals and educators to propose "the project of their dreams", a program that they feel will have real and lasting impact for their clients, students and people they serve. The goal of this program is to enhance the services these professionals provide while at the same time providing stimulus to their careers. The Foundation's role is to provide $10,000.00 to help fulfill that dream.
"When I was initially informed about this incredible opportunity," Said Dr. Stout, "I knew I wanted to do something for youth in The City of Fullerton, the community I have called home for over 27 years." After pondering potential ideas for many days, Dr. Stout decided that there are already numerous wonderful programs at work in Fullerton. Instead of asking for funding for a project of his own, he would apply for this award funding on behalf of Tara's Chance, a program his daughter participated in several years ago. Tara's Chance is a special needs community benefit organization in Fullerton, whose mission is dedicated to promoting the physical, cognitive and social well-being of children with special needs. They accomplish this through individualized equine assisted activities and therapies. "I asked for this award funding", said Dr. Stout, "so they can buy a larger horse to significantly reduce their wait list for services and more importantly to ensure kids in need no longer have to stop receiving services because their weight exceeds 150 pounds". Matt Howells, the Executive Director of Tara's Chance said, "We are so grateful for Dr. Stout and the Picerne Family Foundation for their belief in our mission and allowing our program to grow and serve more individuals with special needs by acquiring a larger program horse."
