New system reduces response times; improves resource tracking and accountability, interoperability with CAL FIRE
SAN DIEGO - Californer -- RadioMobile, Inc., a provider of mobile data communications technology to Fire and EMS, announced that the Placer County Fire Department (PCFD) has deployed RadioMobile's IQ Flex mobile data communications system for automatic vehicle location (AVL) and resource tracking. The new system, which also includes the IQ Mobile application software for tablets, allows PCFD to share critical incident information such as resource location and status within the department as well as with CAL FIRE and other cooperating agencies.
"The ability of IQ Flex to integrate with the CAL FIRE system built by RadioMobile was key," said Brian Mackwood, Division Chief for the Placer County Fire Department, a cooperating agency of CAL FIRE's Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit. "IQ Flex allowed PCFD to implement life-saving AVL much faster and at a lower cost than would otherwise have been possible by leveraging the investment CAL FIRE has already made in AVL. With the always-constant threat of the next big fire season, this lets us prepare ahead of time for the most effective use of the software and system."

PCFD's eight career and five volunteer fire stations, provide all risk fire and emergency medical services to a 475-square-mile territory with a population of 58,000 residents and businesses in unincorporated Placer County, California. The diverse geographical region presents inherent hazards ranging from flooding in the valley regions to major transportation portals, recreation areas, and the ever-present threat of large damaging wildfires in the wildland urban interface (WUI) of the foothills and mountain regions. Through a long-standing Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), PCFD integrates state and local firefighting resources, career and volunteer, into an effective combination fire department.
The PCFD solution includes IQ Flex, a service hosted and maintained by RadioMobile that provides a secure connection to the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and relays dispatch messages and status updates between the CAL FIRE Peraton (Northrop Grumman) CAD system and the responding units. Each mobile unit is equipped with a tablet running RadioMobile's IQ Mobile application software providing real-time incident dispatching, mapping and navigation, vehicle locations, status updates, and mobile messaging.

"We are happy to have Placer County Fire join our family of fire & EMS clients," says Jim Moore, CEO at RadioMobile. "With IQ Flex, we eliminated the need to purchase, install and maintain servers and software on-site, making it easier for them to get the system up-and-running quickly."
RadioMobile's IQ Flex is a hosted subscription service initially designed to meet the needs of small and medium sized Fire & EMS agencies. IQ Flex provides state-of-the-art connectivity between CAD and AVL systems, fire stations, and mobile units via a highly reliable, redundant and resilient communications network which includes LTE, LMR, and satellite. IQ Flex can be easily deployed and customized to meet the specific needs of any agency, regardless of its size. For more information on RadioMobile's IQ Flex, visit https://radiomobile.com/iq-flex.
