SAN DIEGO - Californer -- The San Diego French Film Festival (SDFFF), presented by the Alliance Française San Diego, proudly announces its fifth edition, taking place May 4-7, 2025, at THE LOT La Jolla, one of San Diego's most elegant venues. This year's theme, "Love in All Its Forms", explores the many facets of human emotions—from friendship to (com)passion —through the lens of French and francophone cinema.
The Festival is a vibrant celebration of francophone cultures, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in the artistry of cinema while embracing the richness of language, diversity, and community.
This edition highlights themes like solidarity, social determinism, interfaith harmony, integration, and diverse arrays of human emotions. The films address complex themes, paving the way for reflection and discussion.

The festival will open with a red-carpet gala screening of En Fanfare (The Marching Band), a critically acclaimed drama that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and earned seven César Award nominations. The event will welcome special guests, including French actor Max Boublil and director Gregory Boutboul, presenting the comedy Neuilly-Poissy adding an extra layer of excitement for cinephiles.
Throughout the four-day celebration, audiences can enjoy thought-provoking films and engaging panel discussions. The selection includes the gripping Cameroonian drama Moto Taxi, the inspiring movie Just a Couple of Days, the moving Canadian feature RU, based on Kim Thuy's acclaimed novel and a selection of short films.
"This milestone fifth edition reflects the heart of what the festival is about: connection," says Julie Ripoll, Executive Director of the Alliance Française San Diego. "Through this universal theme, we hope to inspire audiences to reflect on the power of love in its many dimensions while showcasing the exceptional storytelling of francophone filmmakers."
