THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. ~ Teledyne FLIR Defense, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has recently announced that Canada's Department of National Defence is seeking to donate over 800 SkyRanger R70 Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to the government of Ukraine. This donation is valued at more than CAD$95 million (approximately US$70 million).
The SkyRanger R70 drones, built by Teledyne FLIR in Waterloo, Ontario, are equipped with advanced thermal and daytime sensors that allow them to detect and identify targets at long range. They also have autonomous navigation capabilities and can carry payloads up to 3.5 kilograms, including munitions.
This order from Canada adds to the already existing unmanned systems and counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) capabilities that Teledyne FLIR Defense is providing to Ukraine's military through various governments worldwide. The Norwegian and British governments have previously donated Teledyne FLIR Black Hornet nano-drones, which have proven successful in numerous operations under harsh environments.

In addition, through a contract with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, Teledyne FLIR is supplying advanced thermal/visual imaging systems with highly sensitive radar sensors onto a mobile platform for rapid identification of drone threats as part of a total C-UAS solution for Ukraine.
Edwin Roks, Chief Executive Officer of Teledyne Technologies, expressed his gratitude towards the Canadian government and the Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, for choosing SkyRanger drones in their support for Ukraine. He also highlighted how these tactical platforms are proving to be crucial in delivering covert situational awareness on today's battlefields when needed the most. As a world leader in small unmanned aerial systems and remote sensing solutions, Teledyne FLIR Defense continues to showcase its capabilities in providing immediate support to warfighters.
