Funded by the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), this program is hosted by The Human Beauty Movement in partnership with Yellow Chair Collective for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Asian Pacific Islander Underserved Cultural Communities (API UsCC) Subcommittee (https://dmh.lacounty.gov/about/mhsa/uscc/asian-...).
More on The Californer
With rising mental health concerns in the API community, exacerbated by cultural stigma and limited access to mental health care, these workshops aim to provide education, awareness, and wellness activities in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Unmanaged stress can often lead to anxiety, depression, and more severe mental health conditions, making early intervention and accessible support essential.
Program Details: A total of 30 workshops will be held—10 in Chinese, 10 in Japanese/English, and 10 in Korean for API residents of LA County. Each two-hour session, led by trained mental health professionals, will offer informative and interactive education designed to create a safe, culturally relevant space for participants to learn about stress management and mental wellness.
What Participants Will Learn:
Workshops will be held both in-person and virtually from March to May 2025.
