Donations will support SF Ed Fund programs, including the largest literacy program currently serving SF students
SAN FRANCISCO - Californer -- The San Francisco Education Fund, a nonprofit that mobilizes the community to support equitable access to quality education for San Francisco students, today announced a partnership with Engiven, a leading cryptocurrency donation platform, to offer a new alternative for supporters to help San Francisco students and families.
More than 300 million people worldwide, including over 14 percent of U.S. adults, use cryptocurrency. The number of crypto users is expected to break one billion by the end of 2022, according to research from Crypto.com. In addition to being one of the fastest-growing tradable assets, cryptocurrency was the fastest-growing segment in the philanthropy sector in 2021. The rapid adoption of cryptocurrency philanthropy is driving growth for many nonprofits. In 2021, the average donation processed on the Engiven platform was over $15,000.

"The San Francisco Education Fund and its supporters have given millions to students and teachers over the years. We're thrilled to expand impact for our kids by partnering with Engiven, allowing us to connect with both established crypto investors and the next generation of philanthropists," said Stacey Wang, San Francisco Education Fund CEO. "More than half of San Francisco Unified students live at or near the poverty level and most are still recovering academically and mentally from the pandemic. We hope the opportunity to give to our established organization inspires crypto holders to donate to support and empower SF kids in a critical time."
For almost six decades, the San Francisco Education Fund has worked toward increasing equitable access to high-quality learning experiences and opportunities for San Francisco students. Last month, the organization announced the launch of the largest literacy program serving San Francisco students. The research-backed tutoring program addresses the urgent need for thousands of students to recover from learning interruptions experienced during the pandemic.

"Engiven is pleased to partner with the San Francisco Education Fund to enable crypto donors to give to all of their amazing initiatives and programs," said James Lawrence, Engiven CEO. "We are eager to see how the crypto community comes alongside the San Francisco Education Fund's high-dosage tutoring program, which was developed in response to the academic interruptions that occurred during the pandemic."
Engiven's proprietary donation management platform is integrated with Gemini's online cryptocurrency exchange and provides a highly automated, end-to-end solution where the crypto donation is verified on the blockchain, exchanged for USD, and the donor is immediately provided with a gift receipt. Engiven serves the nonprofit community by helping them to securely accept and liquidate crypto donations while eliminating the associated complexity and risk.
