SAN FRANCISCO, June 19, 2025 ~ As the fight against climate change intensifies, individuals and organizations are stepping up to make a difference. One such organization is Resource Innovations (RI), a clean-energy transformation firm founded by CEO Lauren Casentini. And now, Casentini has been recognized for her visionary leadership and impact in the field of clean energy.
California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) has selected Casentini as a 2025 Badass in Green honoree. This prestigious award spotlights trailblazers who are accelerating bold climate solutions. "Lauren is a visionary in the climate movement whose career proves what's possible when expertise meets purpose," said Steve Schiller, Board Member of California Environmental Voters. "Her leadership embodies the spirit of Badass in Green—fearless, innovative, and laser-focused on a just energy future."
Casentini's track record speaks for itself. With over three decades of experience in the industry, she has consistently pushed boundaries and created real impact. Her businesses have been recognized four times on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies, an honor awarded to less than 6% of companies.

In 2016, Casentini founded Resource Innovations and under her direction, it has grown from a Bay Area start-up to a 1,000+ employee powerhouse delivering programs across 30 states, Puerto Rico, and Canada. RI also provides energy software solutions to a growing global client base.
One of RI's key focuses is catalyzing clean energy in California. With over 300 employees based in the state, RI has designed and implemented innovative energy rebate programs for utilities across California. In 2023, RI was selected as California's first Market Transformation Administrator (CalMTA), paving the way for lasting and equitable efficiency statewide.
But Casentini's vision goes beyond just California. She is committed to expanding equity-centered solutions nationwide through initiatives such as leading income-qualified energy programs and supporting the first energy efficiency program in Puerto Rico's history. In 2025, RI acquired Fresno-based Richard Heath & Associates (RHA), further solidifying its commitment to expanding clean energy access in frontline communities.

The impact of RI's work is undeniable. In 2024 alone, the company helped clients avoid over 823,800 metric tons of CO2e emissions, equivalent to the annual electricity use of over 170,000 homes. With an impressive emissions impact ratio of 1:1,500, RI helped clients avoid more than 1,500 metric tons of CO2e for every ton the company emitted. Additionally, RI programs delivered over $710 million in rebates, directly lowering energy costs for households and businesses across the U.S.
To celebrate Casentini's achievements and those of other climate leaders in California, EnviroVoters will be hosting the 2025 Badass in Green Awards on Friday, June 27 at SmogShoppe in Los Angeles. This event will bring together public and private climate leaders to celebrate statewide climate action. Tickets are available for purchase and proceeds will support EnviroVoters' advocacy work in climate justice and equity.
"I'm honored to stand alongside fellow Badasses in Green and keep pushing for solutions that deliver clean energy, good jobs, and resilient communities—here at home and nationwide," said Casentini. As California continues to be a proving ground for climate innovation, individuals like Casentini are leading the way towards a more sustainable future.
