3 New Members Join The Ventura College Foundation Board, Including Acting Ventura College President

VENTURA, Calif. - Californer -- Three new board members joined the Ventura College Foundation board of directors, including Dr. Luca E. Lewis, acting president of Ventura College. Lewis was previously vice president of Student Affairs at Ventura College. He brings over 22 years of experience in community college education.

"By fostering innovation, operational excellence, and teaching and learning excellence, I strive to create an environment with my colleagues where Ventura College can advance its mission, empower students, and strengthen our diverse communities in which we serve," says Lewis.

New board member Doug Halter is Deputy Mayor for the City of Ventura. He has been actively involved in local government, task forces, committees and commissions for over 30 years. "I will be focusing on helping to identify courses that are needed for business in Ventura, especially trades where students can develop their skills to have a long and prosperous career," says Halter.

As a Ventura College alum, new board member David Harrison, sales manager for E.J. Harrison and Sons, Inc., understands the importance of community college. "Community college offers programs and training that meet local industry needs, helping students enter the job market quickly," he says. "Community colleges strengthen the local economy by preparing skilled workers."
