50/50 Leadership is happy to have 12 new participants join our Youth Leadership Program

PASADENA, Calif. - Californer -- 50/50 Leadership is elated to announce the beginning of its eight-week Youth Leadership Internship Program this fall, which began on September 19th and concludes on November 14th.

The 50/50 Youth Leadership Program is a personal and professional development internship, based on assigning young people leadership skills to guide them along their journey from passionate activism to leadership with a focus on documentary filmmaking, STEM, and financial literacy for youth.  We focus on providing students with opportunities for career and college readiness.

Through this 8-week experience, high school junior and senior interns will complete a project of value in their assigned area,  participate in skills-building workshops, while connecting with professionals & youth leaders who serve as project mentors.  Youth Leadership Program (YLP) training will focus on building self-confidence, accountability, and long-term goal setting skills. YLP team members have the opportunity to return the following semester as group leaders for future participants.  YLP alumni are invited to speak at the 50/50 Youth Leadership Summit.

Great movements begin with passionate activists sharing their stories and buildingeffective narratives.  We believe young leaders need more opportunities to create stories allowing their voices to be heard.  We support opportunities for youth leadership to build and share narratives through education, advocacy, and public speaking.

Each intern has a range of assignments within the eight weeks of the program, "where they are contributing to the mission of promoting equality for women in leadership roles" said Program Coordinator and Chair, Lisa Haukom.
