~ The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has recently announced the winners of their 2025 Pop Music Songwriters Celebration. This annual event recognizes the talented songwriters and publishers behind the biggest pop music hits of the past year.
Taking home the prestigious title of ASCAP Pop Music Songwriter of the Year is Jack Antonoff, a renowned songwriter, producer, and artist known for his culture-shifting collaborations. Antonoff co-wrote six of ASCAP's most-performed songs in 2024, including Sabrina Carpenter's "Please Please Please" and Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero," "Fortnight," "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart," "Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version) (From the Vault)," and "Karma." This award adds to Antonoff's already impressive collection of accolades.
The ASCAP Pop Music Song of the Year went to "Lose Control," co-written by ASCAP songwriter Joshua "Ammo" Coleman. The hit song, performed by Teddy Swims, dominated the charts in 2024 and continues to see success. In fact, it broke the record for longest-running song in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at an impressive 58 weeks. Published by Kobalt Music and Top Notch High Quality Music, this record-breaking smash captivated listeners with its unique blend of soul, rock, and Motown-style R&B.
