Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach is gearing up to host its annual Business Resource Fair on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. This event, organized by the Economic Development Department, aims to support and empower entrepreneurs, small business owners and startups in the community. The fair will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Civic Center Plaza (411 W. Ocean Blvd.) and is being held in celebration of both National Small Business Week and Economic Development Week.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating that "our local businesses are the backbone of our community." He also emphasized the city's commitment to providing these businesses with the necessary tools and support to thrive. The Business Resource Fair presents a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to engage directly with City departments and participating organizations, gaining access to valuable information and resources that can help them succeed.

The fair will feature several information and resource booths hosted by City departments and participating organizations. Attendees can expect to learn about various programs and services available for small businesses, network with other entrepreneurs, and even have one-on-one meetings with City staff and business professionals. Refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
In addition to the fair, the Economic Development Department will also be recognizing 20 newly certified Long Beach Legacy Businesses at the May 6th Long Beach City Council meeting. Complimentary parking will be available in the Civic Center Garage (332 W. Broadway).
Bo Martinez, Director of the Economic Development Department, expressed his excitement for bringing this event to the local business community. He stated that it is part of their ongoing efforts to create a welcoming, supportive, and resilient environment for entrepreneurs in Long Beach. Martinez also acknowledged their many contributing partners who have helped make this event possible.

To further promote National Small Business Week (May 4-10) and Economic Development Week (May 12-16), the Department will be conducting a social media campaign featuring local retailers on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @lbecondev. They will also be highlighting businesses in their Business Brief Newsletter, which businesses and the community are encouraged to subscribe to for the latest business-related news and opportunities.
National Small Business Week has been celebrated by the U.S. Small Business Administration for over 60 years, recognizing the critical contributions of America's entrepreneurs and small business owners. Similarly, since 2016, the International Economic Development Council has recognized Economic Development Week to honor the incredible impact that economic development organizations and professionals have in their communities.
