PETALUMA, Calif. - Californer -- Alten Construction (https://www.altenconstruction.com/), a full-service San Francisco Bay Area commercial construction company, recently announced it has been awarded the Petaluma Public Safety Facility project.
Located at 866 E Washington Street at the fairgrounds, the $52 million design-build project will be a ground-up campus build, allowing the police and fire headquarters to be in one consolidated facility.
Construction will include a fire station with four fire apparatus bays and 12 firefighter dorms, secured parking for police and fire operations, an accessory structure for storage and utility purposes, and a modern Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for disaster response.

Alten Construction will also be tasked with site development for the project.
The Petaluma Public Safety Facility is currently in the design and permitting phase, with construction slated to start in spring 2027 and an estimated completion of Q3 of 2028. Funding for the project will be largely paid for by bond proceeds, which are backed by Measure U, the city's one-cent sales tax measure approved by voters in 2020.
Over Alten Construction's 32-year history, the company has completed a number of fire station projects, including Fire Station 70 in San Pablo, Fire Station 52 and 57 in San Rafael, and Fire Station 5 in San Francisco, among others.
Additionally, the commercial construction company completed a similar project, the San Rafael Public Safety Building, which holds police, fire and emergency services.
