About Carlos Antonio
Carlos Antonio began his aesthetically focused career as a personal stylist at the iconic luxury retailer Barneys New York. In this role, he worked closely with the store's top clients, expertly matching them with new and cutting-edge designers to refine and elevate their personal style.
After five successful years at Barneys, one of Carlos' clients recruited him to become the Design Director for the Diva Group in West Hollywood - the premier destination in Southern California for premium European contemporary furniture and accessory brands like Cassina, B&B Italia, and Maxalto.
More on The Californer
In this position, Carlos received specialized training in Italy from the skilled craftspeople at Cassina, where he learned the intricate details and processes behind luxury furniture construction. As Design Director and later the principal of his own design firm, Carlos went on to create the interiors for numerous acclaimed residential and commercial spaces.
Carlos' refined contemporary aesthetic blends an appreciation for antique and vintage pieces with organic elements and clean, modern lines - evoking the fundamentals of the Bauhaus movement. His clients have described his style as "contemporary with soul." The unique way Carlos integrates art and accessories into his projects has also earned him collaborations where he curates the art and accessories for other designers' projects.
The CARLOS ANTONIO/galleries are an extension of Carlos' deep passion for art, sculpture, and objects, allowing him to share the thoughtful and considered work of other artists and creators. This personal connection to the art of creation has ultimately led Carlos full circle, as he now explores his own sensibilities through the composition of his DESIERTO/ series - an emulation of meditative quietness ascendent from the desert landscape, with all pigments and powders applied by hand and left to cure outdoors. This body of work has been collected by noted figures in the art and design industries.
