MUSKEGON, Mich., June 19, 2025 ~ BTM Industrial, a prominent asset disposition company, has announced its sponsorship of Pedal to the Rescue's cross-country cycling campaign. The campaign aims to raise funds for the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and bring attention to the destructive impact of wildfires in the region. BTM Industrial's contribution of over $50,000 in equipment, travel expenses, and project management services will cover operational costs, ensuring that every dollar raised goes directly to the foundation.
Pedal to the Rescue is a mission-driven initiative that seeks to support the brave firefighters battling wildfires in Los Angeles. The campaign was launched by Michael "Mikey" VanSuilichem and Thomas "Tommy" Gehl II on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from Grand Rapids, Michigan. According to BTM Industrial Owner and Founder Doug Watkoski, Mikey is a part-time employee at their company and has family members working there as well. He stated that giving back to the communities where their employees live and work is a core value at BTM Industrial. When Mikey presented the idea of this unique fundraising campaign, Watkoski saw it as an opportunity to provide relief to LA firefighters while also giving these two young men an epic adventure.
Although neither VanSuilichem nor Gehl are experienced cyclists and have not ridden much since graduating high school, Watkoski believes that their determination and passion will help them complete this challenging journey for a good cause.
Watkoski expressed his gratitude for being able to contribute towards raising funds for the firefighters who have been tirelessly fighting wildfires in LA. He also mentioned how fulfilling it is for him personally to support Mikey and Tommy's dedication towards helping those who have helped others through this demanding campaign.
