WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. - Californer -- The California Community College Forensics Association (CCCFA) is proud to announce the establishment of Lambda Phi Alpha (ΛΦΑ), a new honor society dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievements and contributions of California Community College students in competitive forensics.
Officially approved during the CCCFA Annual Business Meeting, Lambda Phi Alpha will formally induct its first members at the CCCFA State Championship Tournament in 2026. This new honor society aims to honor the dedication, skill, and academic excellence students display in speech and debate competitions statewide.
Lambda Phi Alpha (ΛΦΑ), inspired by the Greek ideals of Λόγος (Reason), Φωνή (Voice), and Ἀρετή (Excellence), adopts the motto: "Excellence through Voice and Reason", highlighting the society's commitment to scholarly discourse, eloquent communication, and ethical reasoning.
Membership will be available at multiple levels, recognizing varying degrees of participation, competitive achievement, and leadership. Students inducted into Lambda Phi Alpha will receive official pins and certificates commemorating their accomplishments, enhancing their academic and professional portfolios.

To oversee the governance and ensure student voices guide the organization, a student-elected governance board will be established. Student officers, elected annually, will collaborate with a CCCFA-appointed standing committee to craft transparent bylaws and manage society activities. The inaugural student leadership board members will be designated as "Founding Members."
Lambda Phi Alpha also intends to facilitate a robust alumni network, providing mentorship and professional opportunities for graduates who continue to positively impact forensic communities.
