According to the text of the proclamation, Governor Newsom, in his capacity as the Governor of California, has ordered that the Statewide Direct Primary Election will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. The full proclamation can be viewed on the official government website. This announcement comes on the heels of another statement issued by Governor Newsom regarding concerns over the Trump administration's vaccine schedule potentially endangering infants and children.

In that statement released earlier today, Governor Newsom expressed his concern over what he called a "reckless move" by the Trump administration. He stated that this decision could put lives at risk and endanger caregivers as well.

As California continues its efforts towards recovery after last year's devastating firestorms in Los Angeles County, Governor Newsom has also announced appointments for various positions within state agencies. These appointments include Patrick Eaton as Deputy Director of Facility Support at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The state is working closely with local partners to accelerate rebuilding efforts and meet community needs. The governor emphasized that California is committed to supporting survivors and working with on-the-ground partners to ensure a successful recovery process.

As the 2026 statewide primary election approaches, voters can expect to see a diverse list of candidates vying for various positions in the state government. The governor's proclamation serves as a reminder for Californians to exercise their right to vote and have their voices heard in shaping the future of their state.
