~ SACRAMENTO - On January 9, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom expressed his condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Riverside County Sheriff's Office Deputy Timothy Corlew. The 40-year-old deputy passed away on January 8 as a result of an on-duty traffic collision.
In a statement released by the Governor's office, Newsom and his wife Jennifer extended their sympathies to Deputy Corlew's loved ones. They praised his dedication to protecting and serving the community, stating that he exemplified the best qualities of a public servant. The Governor also acknowledged Corlew's sacrifice and expressed gratitude for his service.
Deputy Corlew had been with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office for nine years. He is survived by his wife and two children. In honor of his passing, flags at the State Capitol and Capitol Annex Swing Space will be flown at half-staff.
