For National Salesperson Day (and for every day throughout the year in Sales): Treat yourself and your Sales Staff to a poem/potential song lyrics that will strike a chord with almost every Salesperson in the world.
SAN MATEO, Calif. - Californer -- National Salesperson Day is celebrated on the first Friday in March and the second Friday in December, and if you are looking for something to help entertain your sales staff, tell them about a poem called "Sales Calls."
The poem is by Robert Barrows, President of an advertising agency called R.M. Barrows Advertising & Public Relations in San Mateo, California.
Barrows started writing the poem in 2013, and it gets a little longer every time he encounters a new or slightly odd response to a sales call.
You can see a recent version of the poem in "Crazy Robert's Third Great Book of Poems and Potential Song Lyrics" that you can download for a dollar on Amazon.
So, how many times have you made a sales call and you tried to reach someone by phone or in person and you could never even get in contact with them, and after you left a message, sent an email or mailed a letter or left your business card, they never even called you back?

At the end of the poem, Barrows includes a line that says "Add your verses here."
SO, HERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT YOUR COMPANY COULD DO WITH THE POEM TO MAKE IT A VERY ENTERTAINING THING FOR YOUR SALESPEOPLE AND YOUR AUDIENCE:
1) In addition to using the poem in a story about sales, you could also set the poem up on a dedicated web page to be interactive with your audience, and they could add in a few lines or verses of their own. (You could also sell a lot of advertising on those web pages.)
2) You can even turn it into a song. ("Just send me a portion of the royalties," says Barrows.)
3) You could also publish the final poem in a book with some other articles related to sales.
HERE ARE THE FIRST TWO VERSES OF THE POEM TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA HOW IT GOES:

He's not in
He's not available
He's out of town
He's busy right now
He's on the phone
May I take a message?
Would you like his voice mail?
Is he expecting your call?
Sorry, I don't recall seeing that information,
could you send it again?
If he's interested, he'll contact you.
Have a nice day.
(The poem goes on in this vein for many more pages.)
