Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach has announced that it will be extending the activation of its Inclement Weather Shelter for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. The shelter, located at the Multi-Service Center on 1301 W. 12th St., will remain open through Friday morning, Jan. 17 due to ongoing air quality concerns caused by the fires in Los Angeles County.
The shelter, which has been in operation since Jan. 7, is an emergency overnight shelter that provides a safe and warm place for individuals to stay during extreme weather conditions. Check-in begins at 5 p.m. each day and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no registration required. The shelter can accommodate up to 60 people and offers separate sleeping areas for men and women.
In addition to a cot and blanket, the Inclement Weather Shelter also provides hot dinner and breakfast, access to restrooms and hygiene supplies, as well as supportive services through the Multi-Service Center.
