Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As Memorial Day approaches on Monday, May 26, 2025, the City of Long Beach has announced its plans for facility and service schedules in observance of the holiday. The city has released a list of facilities and services that will be open and closed on this day.
For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, all city parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center) will be open for public use. Additionally, El Dorado Regional Park will also be open for visitors. Fire stations and lifeguard stations will remain operational for any emergency needs.
Travelers can also rest assured that Long Beach Airport will remain open on Memorial Day. The main police station front desk and marina offices at Alamitos Bay Marina and Shoreline Marina will also be available for any inquiries or assistance.
In case of any emergencies related to gas or water/sewer services, residents can contact Gas Services Dispatch at 562.570.2140 or Water/Sewer Dispatch at 562.570.2390 as both departments will have staff available 24/7.

However, there are some closures to note as well. The Billie Jean King Main Library and all branch libraries, including library offices, will be closed on Monday. However, digital resources will still be accessible online for those looking to utilize the library's services.
Other closures include the BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ), Building and Safety services (including the Permit Center), City Hall offices, City-operated pools, City Prosecutor's Office, Code Enforcement services, Economic Development Department's Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network Adult and Youth Career Services Centers, Energy Resources Offices, Fire Headquarters (Support Services, Fire Prevention & Operations), Health Department and Health facilities.
The Homeless Services Outreach Line (562.570.4672), Housing Authority offices, LB Resource Hotline (562.570.4246), Long Beach Airport Administration Offices, Long Beach Animal Care Services and spcaLA (regularly closed on Mondays and Tuesdays), Long Beach Utilities Offices, Mobile Access Centers, Neighborhood Resource Center, Parks, Recreation and Marine programs and community park facilities will also be closed on Memorial Day.

For any public health inquiries, the Public Health Information Line (562.570.7907) will be available for assistance. However, the city's Special Events and Filming Offices will be closed on Monday.
Residents are reminded that there will be no street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Memorial Day. Parking meters will still be enforced unless they state "Exempt on Holidays." Refuse and recycling services will continue as scheduled.
The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St.) will also be closed on Monday. Normal business hours for this facility are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Sundays and holidays. Vehicles and property can still be released outside of these hours for an additional fee.
Lastly, all Long Beach Public Library locations and services, including the main phone line, will be closed on Saturday, May 24 and Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. However, patrons can still access the library's digital resources such as the catalog, downloads, and databases online.
