Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach is taking steps to improve its network reliability, resiliency, and performance. The Technology and Innovation Department's Network Services Division has announced a planned migration of core internet services to new routers. This temporary outage is scheduled to take place from 11 p.m. on Friday, July 11, through 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 12.
According to the department, this migration is part of the city's ongoing efforts to enhance its network infrastructure. During the outage, internet access and City-provided Wi-Fi may be intermittently unavailable. This includes access to the City's website at longbeach.gov and its online customer service and payment portals.
The Long Beach Utilities Department website at LBUtilities.org will remain operational during this time. However, URL links connected to the City's main webpages will be temporarily unavailable. Customers who have a water, sewer or natural gas related emergency are advised to contact the 24/7 emergency dispatch at 562-570-2390.

Despite the temporary outage, there will be no interruption in operations for the City's Emergency Communications Center. Additionally, there are no expected impacts on call for service response times from Police and Fire personnel. The public is reminded to continue dialing 9-1-1 for emergencies or 562-435-6711 for non-emergency City services.
The migration to new routers is a crucial step in improving the city's network reliability. In case of an outage with the main internet provider, the new setup will allow for a switch over to an alternate provider, minimizing potential disruptions in internet service.
For media inquiries regarding this planned outage and network upgrade, please contact Lea Eriksen, Director of Technology and Innovation Department at 562-570-6234 or Lea.Eriksen@longbeach.gov.
