Apellix's Army-certified, NDAA-compliant Wash Drone will fly over Pepperdine's Malibu campus on July 25.
MALIBU, Calif. - Californer -- Pepperdine University has invited Apellix to their iconic campus to fly the Apellix Power Wash Drone. On Saturday, July 25, 2026, the company will fly its Power Wash Drone over the university's hillside campus, with the Pacific as a backdrop. It's the first time Apellix has staged one of these demonstrations on the West Coast, and given how the company's past events have gone, that's a bigger deal than it might sound.
People have flown in from Israel, Colombia, Brazil, Norway, and Denmark just to watch this drone work at Apellix demo events. That's not a coincidence — it's a reflection of how few credible options exist for cleaning buildings, windows, solar arrays, and stadiums at height without putting a person on a ladder, a lift, or scaffolding. Apellix builds the only cleaning drone certified and flown by the U.S. Army, and the company has made a habit of letting people see that for themselves rather than just read about it.
At the Pepperdine event, the drone will run a live cleaning pass on a campus building, then repeat the job hands-free using Apellix Intelligence (AI) — the company's autonomous flight system, powered by AirShift and AirTrace – that was developed in collaboration with the U.S. Army. After that, attendees get to fly it themselves, with the Apellix team walking them through it step by step.
More on The Californer
"Working at height shouldn't mean putting people at height," is the line Apellix keeps coming back to, and it's the reason the company doesn't just sell the drone — it puts the controls in your hands and lets the work speak for itself.
Why Pepperdine, and Why Now
Apellix and Pepperdine are currently collaborating and this demonstration grew out of that existing relationship. When Pepperdine invited Apellix to demo at their campus, it was an easy yes. The university's campus, a mix of building types set against steep coastal terrain, happens to be a useful real-world test case for the kind of work the drone is built for: cleaning that's awkward, risky, or expensive to reach by conventional means.
Built to Replace the Ladder, the Lift, and the Scaffold
The Apellix B2/Blue platform is American-made and NDAA-compliant, which sets it apart from a number of competing cleaning drones built on Chinese-manufactured airframes that can no longer be purchased new in the U.S. It's purpose-built and engineered for commercial-scale jobs, building exteriors, windows, office parks, stadiums, and the pitch is straightforward: less labor cost, less downtime, and a lot less risk than sending a person up there.
What to Expect at the Event
Who This Is For
If your work involves cleaning anything exterior — a cleaning business, a facilities team, a campus, a solar, an office park, residential roofs — this demo was built with you in mind. Past events have drawn an international crowd for exactly that reason: this is a niche industry, and seeing the drone fly tends to settle questions that spec sheets can't.
