Created in response to the Eaton and Palisades fires, the new edition brings phoenix-inspired artwork to a guided journal centered on resilience, reflection, community, and practical action.
LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Author, speaker, educator, and coach Brettney Perr re-releases The Resilience Journal as the Phoenix Edition. The edition retains the original content and introduces artwork inspired by the phoenix, symbol of rebirth, renewal, and rising after devastation.
The journal was created in response to the Eaton and Palisades fires, which began Jan. 7, 2025, and affected Los Angeles County. Perr was both a past resident of the Pacific Palisades, and remains connected to people affected by the Eaton Fire.
"I lived in the Palisades in the early 2000s. It was hard to see a place with many fond memories nearly burned out of existence," Perr said. "With the Eaton Fire, I have close friends who lost everything. The devastation was huge and I was shocked to watch people turn to blame others rather than help those in immediate need. When people are too busy fighting each other, it takes away from providing help. To me, that lack of priorities was a lack of resilience."

"The phoenix is about rebirth and renewal," Perr said. "It reminds us that we can rise above our circumstances."

For Perr, resilience is built through daily actions, mindset, relationships, community, awareness, and habits that shape responses to uncertainty.
"Resilience builds strength the way resistance training builds muscle," Perr said. "It is not just getting through a crisis moment; it is how you react to it and navigate scary or challenging moments. Resilience is really a way of life."
The action-oriented journal includes prompts from stress management to adaptive coping, and relationships to practical preparedness. It encourages real-world action and complements professional care and emergency support when needed,.
Interview Opportunities
Perr is available for interviews, podcasts, television, radio, and digital media on resilience practices, decision-making, and overcoming fear.
