Oceanic Tradewinds President brings more than 25 years of broadcast, syndication, talent and brand-building experience to BlackSun's growing sports, media and entertainment strategy
WASHINGTON - Californer -- Veteran entertainment executive, broadcast syndicator and brand strategist Gary Bernstein, President of Oceanic Tradewinds, Inc., is expanding his influence across the media and entertainment landscape with his appointment as Senior Strategic Advisor for Media, Content and Broadcast to BlackSun Private Equity, Inc.
In the independent advisory role, Bernstein will work with BlackSun leadership on opportunities involving media and content development, broadcast, distribution, talent and creator relationships, brand partnerships, sports and entertainment initiatives, and the evaluation of radio and other media assets and opportunities.
"BlackSun's vision sits at the intersection of capital, culture and ownership," said Bernstein. "I look forward to helping translate that vision into disciplined media strategies, meaningful high-impact partnerships and platforms designed to create enduring value and positive cultural impact rooted in shared values. It is refreshing to work with innovators who are both courageous and forward-thinking."
More on The Californer
Bernstein has spent more than 25 years working across radio, music, advertising, media syndication, talent management, touring and brand strategy. His career includes leadership roles as President of Superadio Networks, Radio One's Syndication One and, today, Oceanic Tradewinds.
Throughout that career, Bernstein has been associated with the development, syndication and expansion of programming featuring some of the most recognizable voices in African American media, including Wendy Williams, Frank Ski, Rickey Smiley, Donnie McClurkin, Rev. Al Sharpton, Roland Martin, Russ Parr and Tasha K, among others.
His experience extends beyond talent representation and programming. Bernstein has worked at the intersection of content creation, distribution, advertising, touring and creator-driven media, developing strategies designed to transform audience relationships into sustainable business opportunities. He also engineered the sale of Superadio Networks to Access.1 Communications.
That combination of operating experience and relationship building is central to his new advisory role.

His BlackSun appointment further broadens that work into an advisory position focused on the changing economics of media—and the opportunities created when strategic capital, intellectual property, culturally relevant content and distribution are brought together.
For Bernstein, the next chapter is about applying decades of lessons from broadcasting and entertainment to what media can become next.
