Long Beach, CA ~ The Long Beach Marathon will return for its 42nd year on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, with related events beginning Friday, Oct. 9, according to the city. Organizers advised people traveling through Long Beach to plan routes around street closures and allow extra time for delays.

Most closures and detours are scheduled to take place on a rolling basis from 4:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The city said closures generally affect both sides of a street unless otherwise noted.

Affected roads include sections of Shoreline Drive, Pine Avenue, the Queensway Bridge and Ocean Boulevard, as well as streets in Belmont Shore, Naples, Belmont Heights, Bluff Park, Alamitos Beach, Park Estates and Los Altos. Some closures will begin Saturday. Eastbound Shoreline Drive between Shoreline Village Drive and Ocean Boulevard is scheduled to close at 7 a.m. Saturday and remain closed until 5 p.m. Sunday. Shoreline Drive in both directions on that stretch is scheduled to close at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Racecourse streets are scheduled to reopen by 2 p.m. Sunday, while Shoreline Drive between Shoreline Village Drive and Ocean Boulevard is expected to fully reopen by 5 p.m., according to the notice.

Temporary no-parking restrictions will be posted along the course. Vehicles left in restricted areas may be cited and towed at the owner's expense to a tow yard at 3111 E. Willow St., the city said.

Free overnight parking from Saturday through Sunday will be available to Belmont Shore, Peninsula and Naples residents in beach lots along Ocean Boulevard. Police-escorted exits may be possible at select locations during the race.

Boat owners who park at Marina Green on Saturday will retain access to the lot via Shoreline Village Drive, according to the notice. On Sunday, they can park at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center via Pine Avenue.
