SACRAMENTO ~ As California continues to lead the way in clean energy, Governor Gavin Newsom proudly announced that the state has been exceeding demand for 33 days straight. This impressive feat is a result of the rapid implementation of various clean energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and batteries.
In his address at the Vatican Climate Summit, Governor Newsom highlighted this achievement and called out Big Oil special interests for attempting to hinder progress in clean energy. With a population of nearly 40 million people and the world's 5th largest economy, California has proven that it is possible to power a large population with clean energy.

On Monday, May 13th, California set a new solar record with an output of 18,933 MW. This is enough to power millions of homes and is more than double the amount generated just five years ago. Additionally, battery capacity has increased twentyfold since 2012.
The state also broke a new battery record on May 16th when it supplied 7,528 MW of clean energy to the grid. This surpasses the previous record by 332 MW and marks a significant increase in battery capacity since Governor Newsom took office in 2019. At 10,379 MW, battery capacity has increased by an impressive 1,250%.
California's commitment to clean energy is evident in these recent achievements and serves as an example for other states and countries to follow. Despite attempts by special interests to derail progress, California remains dedicated to creating a cleaner and more sustainable future for all.
