Orthodox Jewish Synagogue Announces Vision for Expanded Campus
IRVINE, Calif. - Californer -- World-famous Orthodox Jewish rabbi and globally recognized Kabbalist Rabbi Michael "Moshe" Rothschild leads the Rothschild Shul, a boutique Orthodox synagogue that has announced a long-term initiative to develop more permanent locations as part of a broader vision: a fully integrated Orthodox Jewish campus designed as a unified ecosystem for Jewish life in future centuries.
Already associated with thousands of families across in-person and digital participation, the Shul has become widely known as the "Shul to the Stars." The initiative moves beyond traditional synagogue expansion and presents a systems-level framework in which Jewish communal life is integrated into a single coherent environment.
The proposed campus is envisioned as a complete Torah-supporting environment in which learning, prayer, lifecycle services, education, hospitality, wellness, and community infrastructure operate as interconnected systems. Rather than separating Jewish life into distinct institutions, the model is designed to ensure continuity across all stages of life—from early childhood through family development, professional growth, community engagement, and elder care—anchored in הלכה (Jewish law).

The conceptual foundation draws from גן עדן (Gan Eden, Garden of Eden) as a framework of harmony between environment, purpose, and human life. Natural systems are integrated directly into architecture, including orchards, vineyards, groves, vertical farming systems, rooftop agriculture, terraced cultivation, and reflecting water corridors, creating a unified environment where nature and infrastructure function together.
At the center of the campus will be a continuously operating בית מדרש (Beit Midrash, house of study), structured around חברותא (chavruta, paired study) learning systems. Dedicated בתי תפילה (batei tefillah, prayer spaces) will support a wide spectrum of Orthodox traditions, each maintaining its מנהגים (minhagim, customs) and נוסח (nusach, liturgical traditions) within a shared halachic framework.
The campus will include Olympic-scale aquatic facilities, hydrotherapy systems, and luxury mikvah complexes designed as integrated wellness environments, alongside spa facilities, recovery suites, meditation spaces, and therapeutic amenities.
Residents and visitors can engage on-site or nearby with theme parks, beaches, museums, cultural districts, golf, tennis, athletic facilities, and natural preserves, including destinations such as Disneyland, while maintaining a fully Orthodox lifestyle anchored in the campus system.
