ATLANTA - Californer -- Give yourself the gift of time and escape for four days to fine tune your writing – playwriting, historical fiction, poetry, YA, editing and memoir. The 2022 Sea Island Writers Retreat (SIWR), powered by chromatic black™ will take place November 2 to November 6, 2022 on Tybee Island, an island off the coast of Savannah, Georgia.
"We are a brave place for women writers. No pressure. Just progress," said SIWR founder and director Tina McElroy Ansa, who held the first Sea Island Writers Retreat on Sapelo Island, Ga. in 2004. "The Sea Island Writers Retreat offers workshops led by a combination of popular and literary writers of our time."

Participants will convene just steps away from the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. This intimate retreat will convene 15 African-American women writers for intimate small group discussions, talks, individual mentoring and guided consultations. other authors on all aspects of the craft and the business of writing.
Organizers—novelist Tina McElroy Ansa (TAKING AFTER MUDEAR); writer and memoirist and editor Wanda Lloyd (COMING FULL CIRCLE: From Jim Crow to Journalism); have confirmed an illustrious lineup of writers: author Dolen Perkins - Valdez, (TAKE MY HAND); YA writer Nic Stone (DEAR MARTIN); playwright and actress Regina Taylor (LOVECRAFT COUNTRY); memorist Dawn Turner (THREE GIRLS FROM BRONZEVILLE: A Uniquely American Memoir of Race, Fate, and Sisterhood;), and poet Crystal Wilkinson (PERFECT BLACK).

Tuition is $2,500 plus a non-refundable $75 application fee. Payment plans are available. The cost covers housing, chef prepared meals, sumptuous snacks, and writing workshops and materials. Deadline to register is August 15, 2022.
