Micro-budget feature film To the New Girl showcases a diverse group of first time filmmakers at its premiere screening.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Californer -- The indie film To the New Girl held its premiere screening today at The MAIN theater in Santa Clarita, California. The film was made by an all women cast and creative team, many of whom are first time filmmakers. After running a successful Kickstarter campaign several years ago, the project has been a labor of love for the group of women who made it.
"We've been through so many stages with this project, and had the chance to work with a wonderful group of women throughout. One of the reasons we made this movie was to give a group of young female filmmakers the opportunity to work on their first feature," said producer Laura Hunter Drago. "It is so fulfilling to finally be able to share the movie with everyone who helped to make it, and to see their reactions to their work on the big screen!"
Originally a play of the same name written by Samantha Macher, To the New Girl is an anthology-style film that follows ten women scorned who address their exes' new wives and lovers during an open mic night. The play has been performed at venues around the country for the past decade.

Macher describes the experience of seeing the film's premiere as "truly a dream come true. The cast and crew did an amazing job bringing this story to life, and honoring the script's beginnings as a stage play. I'm so appreciative of the love, time, and effort from all the collaborators. I'm beyond excited to see where this project goes in the coming months!"
To the New Girl is currently under consideration for multiple film festivals this spring, and will have its VOD wide release on May 1, 2020. For more information visit: http://www.tothenewgirl.com.
