~ Foundation Source, the leading provider of philanthropic solutions, has announced its acquisition of Pacific Foundation Services (PFS), a foundation management organization based in San Francisco. This move solidifies Foundation Source's position as the nation's premier provider of foundation management services and increases its charitable assets under administration to nearly $40 billion.
The acquisition of PFS allows Foundation Source to better serve large, complex foundations with its flagship tech-enabled offering. PFS's unique capabilities complement this offering and provide clients with access to modern, cloud-based tools that make giving easier and more cost-effective. Additionally, PFS clients will now have access to a wider range of philanthropic solutions, including specialized legal, compliance, and tax support.
"We're excited to welcome the talented team at Pacific Foundation Services to Foundation Source," said Joseph Mrak III, CEO of Foundation Source. "This integration enhances our ability to support private foundations and their advisors with strategic insight and tailored guidance. With our best-in-class technology, we offer a comprehensive solution for mission-driven organizations looking to maximize their impact."

The combined organization will offer an extensive range of philanthropic advisory services, including program strategy and design. They will also provide services to deepen relationships with grantees through sourcing and diligence, application support, grant structuring, and impact measurement. As part of the acquisition, CEO Charles R. Casey has joined Foundation Source in a new leadership role along with the entire PFS team.
"We share a common goal with Foundation Source – streamlining operations to amplify impact and building trusted relationships with our clients and their grantee partners," said Mr. Casey. "This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for both organizations as we work together to enhance the giving experience for our clients and make a positive impact on the sector."
This acquisition is part of Foundation Source's long-term growth strategy which has included several recent transactions such as acquiring Giving Place in April 2025 and Vennfi and PG Calc in previous years. With its suite of enterprise-grade technology, administration, and professional services, Foundation Source is the only provider to offer comprehensive philanthropic solutions for private foundations, donor-advised funds, planned gifts, and workplace giving.
