~ Sacramento, California - On August 26, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a proclamation declaring it as "California Farmworker Day" in the State of California. This day is dedicated to honoring and recognizing the hard work and contributions of farmworkers in the state.

The proclamation highlights the resilience, drive, and deep love for family and community that farmworkers embody. They are the backbone of California and play a crucial role in providing a stable and secure food supply year-round. Despite their vital role, farmworker communities have been facing challenges from a hostile federal administration.

Governor Newsom stated that California will not stand by while this happens and is committed to supporting and uplifting agricultural communities. In recent years, the state has taken steps to expand opportunities for farmworker homeownership, create new resource centers, advance workplace protections and worker outreach, open labor rights enforcement offices in the Central Valley, provide immigrant legal assistance and job training, and extend healthcare access to low-income Californians regardless of immigration status.
