Grace Cathedral Names Louise Gregory, Chief Development Officer

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 23, 2024 ~ Grace Cathedral, a historic house of prayer in San Francisco, has announced the appointment of Louise Gregory as its new Chief Development Officer. With over 175 years of service to the community, Grace Cathedral is known for its inclusive community and commitment to social justice, music and the arts, and spiritual practice.

In her new role, Gregory will work closely with the cathedral's Dean, the Board of Trustees, and other cathedral leaders to expand and diversify its funding base. This will help meet both annual and long-term budget needs to support the cathedral's mission, programs, and strategic priorities. As a certified fundraising executive (CFRE), Gregory brings a wealth of experience in leading successful campaigns for various organizations.

"Her track record of building warm relationships with colleagues and donors makes her an ideal partner for us as we continue to raise funds that enable us to reimagine church with courage, joy, and wonder."

Gregory expressed her excitement about taking on this new role: "It is an honor to lead fundraising efforts for such a historic sacred space in San Francisco. I am looking forward to working with the staff, congregation, and supporters who share our vision and goals."

A resident of San Francisco since 1988, Gregory has held executive positions in major cultural organizations throughout her career including UC Berkeley Library, Berkeley Art Museum, Pacific Film Archive, the Exploratorium, and the California Academy of Sciences. She holds a BA from Hollins University and an MA in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University. Additionally, she received her Certificate of Fundraising from Indiana University Center for Philanthropy.

Aside from her professional achievements, Gregory also has a personal connection to the Episcopal Church as she grew up attending services there and has an uncle who is a retired priest. She is also a practitioner of Japanese ikebana, a form of flower arrangement, for over 35 years.

With her extensive experience and passion for philanthropy, Gregory is poised to make a significant impact in her new role as Chief Development Officer at Grace Cathedral. The cathedral and its community are excited to welcome her and work together towards achieving their goals.
