SAN JOSE, Calif. ~ The Hoffman Agency, a leading communications consultancy, has announced the appointment of Gerard LaFond as the new managing director of North America. LaFond, who previously served as the chief digital officer for the company, will be taking over from Lou Hoffman, who will now focus on global operations.
According to Hoffman, LaFond has played a crucial role in expanding the company's offerings and addressing client pain points. He stated, "As we've evolved as a communications consultancy, Gerard has been instrumental in developing our earned media heritage and expanding our services to include multi-country campaigns and talent acquisition. It's a natural progression for him to take on this new role."
LaFond expressed his excitement about his new position and working with the U.S. leadership team and global colleagues to deliver creative and integrated work in North America and beyond. He also emphasized his focus on growing the company from within by investing in its people, promoting its culture of care, and showcasing its global proposition.

Under LaFond's leadership, the company's North American unit has experienced significant growth of 58% over the past two years, with revenue reaching $8.7 million in 2023. In recognition of her contributions to this growth and her leadership at the Portland office, Kymra Knuth has been promoted to chief client officer for North America.
Hoffman praised Knuth for her hands-on approach to leading accounts and helping others achieve success. He stated, "The numbers don't truly capture Kymra's impact on our growth. She is an invaluable member of our team."
While the company primarily focuses on serving clients in the tech sector, Hoffman noted that virtually every company is now a tech company due to advancements in artificial intelligence. As a result, their client base has expanded to include non-tech companies looking to tell tech-led stories.
With 14 offices across Asia, Europe, and North America, The Hoffman Agency is one of the few independent communication consultancies with a global reach. In 2022, Caroline Hsu was promoted to the newly created role of chief global officer, tasked with uncovering the company's untapped "global goodness." The firm is projected to reach a revenue of $30 million this year.
Hoffman believes that their independence, storytelling expertise, and global presence make them a top choice for clients seeking a high-touch alternative to larger agencies. He stated, "We are in a perfect position to offer a personalized approach to our clients' needs."
