Leading treatment provider JourneyPure partners with 501c3 charity, After The Impact, to create an Intensive Wellness Program for Leaders, Legends and Heroes.
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Californer -- After The Impact has facilitated custom treatment plans for Military Veterans and Retired Professional Athletes over the past three years, focusing heavily on traumatic brain injury, mental health, addiction, transition and pain management. JourneyPure is a leading treatment provider for addiction and co-occurring disorders. The two organizations have now come together to address the issues facing these high performing individuals, before a crisis occurs. The answer - the Intensive Wellness Program (IWP), designed to help individuals rediscover their meaning and purpose, while giving them adaptive tools to deal with life's stressors.
After The Impact Board Member, Former President of Dow North America and Senior Vice President of Global Corporate Affairs, and Current President of Driftwood Leadership, R. Matt Davis, saw an opportunity to add the corporate and business world to the program. "At After The Impact, we had already discovered the benefit of putting the military veteran and the pro athlete together in treatment, but there are many similarities in these communities and the corporate world. To get to the top of the ladder, you have to work and train hard. Mental Health is just as stigmatized in corporate leadership as it is in the two communities we already serve," says Davis. "The truth is we invest so much into our military, our pro athletes and business leaders, why not give them the opportunity to take a week and focus on mental health?"

"It is a fact," says JourneyPure Vice President of Clinical Operations Dr. Brian Wind, "that many of us come from families with some level of dysfunction. As a result, many of us unknowingly carry emotional pain, which can eventually manifest itself in the form of substance use disorders and/or mental health struggles. These challenges tend to have their greatest impact on our relationships, and on our professional lives." Dr. Wind adds that, "The Intensive Wellness Program is designed to expose that which ails us, provide an impactful start to the healing process, and ultimately return us to higher levels of personal and professional functioning." JourneyPure CEO Kevin Lee adds, "The combination of talents and expertise in After The Impact with our JourneyPure team will result in an improved quality of life for many people who would not otherwise receive such valuable, specialized services. Our JourneyPure team cherishes every opportunity we have to help the next person have a much improved quality of life, and especially with the groups we will serve through this joint effort."
Eric Hipple, quarterback for the Detroit Lions for ten years and current Director of Outreach for After The Impact explains, "Whether someone has been through treatment and feels like they need a tune up or reset, or someone who just feels like they are about to burnout, can benefit from this Intensive Wellness Program. We've got to get past the stigma and shame related to mental health."

A trial run of the program was held in August, with Matt Davis (Business "Leader"), Eric Hipple (NFL "Legend"), Jamie Baker (NHL "Legend") and Branden Minuth (Navy Seal Veteran "Hero"). Minuth says, "After The Impact and Journey Pure gave me an incredible gift. What I learned about myself, my family, all the tools and techniques for living life as a better man, the connections made with my brothers in the program. I cannot say enough about the positive aspects. I feel like I have my life back again." Minuth continues, "Since attending the Intensive Wellness Program, things are brighter, more colorful, and happier. My connections with people are more meaningful and my children want to be around me more. In short, I have seen immediate results. Thank you ATIF and JourneyPure."
A fundraiser for After The Impact to provide scholarships for the Intensive Wellness Program will be held at JourneyPure on Oct. 1, 2019. For more information, contact Kimberly Pate at KPate@JourneyPure.com.
