Researcher's Account of Two LinkedIn-Related Security Flaws to Appear in Cyber Defense Magazine's November 2026 Issue

LOS ANGELES - Californer -- In the NOV '2026 issue of Cyber Defense Magazine, Daniel Hall, CEO of Dream IT Software, will describe two security flaws he reported to LinkedIn. The article is titled "I Found Two Holes in LinkedIn's Wall. One Leaked View Counts. The Other Leaked Your Login."

The first, found in July 2023, exposed other members' post view counts on LinkedIn's own pages. The second, found eight months later in LEMPOD, a tool for LinkedIn engagement pods, exposed members' LinkedIn session cookies. LinkedIn confirmed in writing that it fixed one of the two related view-count flaws. On the second, it wrote that its engineering and trust teams reproduced the issue and put mitigations in place.

Why it matters

Both flaws involved information that LinkedIn users assume is private: view counts only a post's author can see, and the session cookie that keeps an account logged in. LinkedIn has more than 950 million members, and hiring, sales outreach and personal branding on the platform rely on its engagement numbers.
