Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As the month of May approaches, the City of Long Beach is gearing up for a citywide celebration of National Home Improvement Month. This inaugural initiative, themed "Love Where You Live," aims to highlight the importance of design, renovation, and community pride in shaping the neighborhoods that make Long Beach a place its residents are proud to call home.
Led by the Community Development Department, this month-long campaign has been created to showcase the vital role that home improvement plays in creating stronger and more beautiful communities. Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that "our homes are more than just buildings - they are the foundation of our families, our memories, and our neighborhoods." He believes that Home Improvement Month is a celebration of the shared commitment to nurturing these spaces and investing in a better future for generations to come.
Throughout May, residents are encouraged to participate in various activities designed to educate, inspire, and connect. One of the key features of this campaign is the Resident Spotlight series. Homeowners and renters are invited to share photos and stories of their home improvement journeys - from full renovations to weekend DIY projects. Submissions will be accepted throughout the month and selected entries will be featured on Citywide platforms to showcase personal pride and neighborhood character unique to Long Beach. To submit your project, visit lbcity.info/nhim-spotlights.

He stated that "by investing in homes and neighborhoods, we're strengthening the entire community - and we're proud to be part of that work."
In addition to the spotlight series, there will also be a robust social media campaign offering practical home improvement tips, helpful City resources, and ideas for inspiring residents in making meaningful upgrades to their living spaces. The month-long celebration will culminate in a free, family-friendly Home Improvement Expo on Saturday, May 31st at Whaley Park. It is open to the entire community and provides an opportunity for residents to connect with local vendors, City departments, and home improvement professionals to explore ideas, tools, and strategies for creating stronger and more sustainable homes.
