Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach has announced the details for its highly anticipated 2025 Beach Streets Open Streets event. This year's event will take place in West Long Beach on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is set to be a celebration of the city's active commuting lifestyle.
Hosted by the City of Long Beach and presented by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), Beach Streets aims to transform the streets into safe and open areas for people to bike, walk, and explore their neighborhoods. This year's event will also highlight the City's Westside Promise Initiative, a 10-year community investment plan that addresses current and historic challenges facing West Long Beach.
The event route will cover Willow Street from Santa Fe Avenue to Long Beach Boulevard, as well as southbound Santa Fe Avenue from Willow Street to 20th Street and a small section of Hill Street off Santa Fe Avenue. Along this route, attendees can expect to find entertainment hubs at Admiral Kidd Park, Hudson Park, and on Willow Street between Pacific Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard.
The festivities will kick off with a welcome ceremony at 11:30 a.m. at the main stage of the Willow Street Hub, which will serve as the main hub for Beach Streets West. This hub will feature live music performances, resource booths providing information about the City's Westside Promise Initiative, and a beer garden hosted by Long Beach Beer Lab. Attendees can look forward to musical performances by DJ Las Chicas Tristes, The Smokin' 60s, Mariachi Divas, and Long Beach Undercover.

For families with children, the Hudson Hub at Hudson Park will be dedicated as the Beach Streets Kid Zone. Here they can enjoy live performances by DJ Mike as well as skate demos, a game truck, inflatables, face painting, food trucks and more. The Admiral Kidd hub will also offer live performances by DJ Andres Renteria and DJ Elvin Estela, food trucks, and a resource fair. In addition to these hubs, there will be multiple live performances along the event route, including DJ Otro Patrick Miller on the Willow Street bridge overlooking the I-710 freeway, DJ Desirable D on the corner of Willow Street and Santa Fe Avenue, and DJ Dennis Owens at Long Beach Beer Lab.
Local businesses, business districts, and community groups along the event route will also be participating by hosting a variety of entertainment, activities, information booths, and more to attract foot traffic and promote their businesses.
Beach Streets is an open streets event that first began in 2015. Previous Beach Streets events have taken place in Uptown, Downtown, Uptown and Bixby Knolls, Cambodia Town and Zaferia, Willmore and Wrigley, and East Long Beach near California State University. Last year's Uptown event also featured the City's Veterans Day Celebration. These open street events have gained popularity throughout North America as they promote innovative strategies to achieve environmental, social, economic, and public health goals.

The Westside Promise Initiative is a multi-department effort led by the Long Beach Community Development Department in collaboration with other City Departments such as Public Works, Economic Development, Health and Human Services, Library Services and Parks Recreation & Marine. The initiative aims to improve housing supply, climate resiliency efforts youth programs workforce training tourism initiatives as well as capital improvements to City facilities like parks and health centers. It also focuses on economic development through small business assistance and workforce training with the goal of leveraging investment in West Long Beach through entrepreneurship grants external partnerships.
