Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach is taking steps to address the growing need for affordable housing by updating their Enhanced Density Bonus Ordinance. The Community Development Department will be hosting a community workshop on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025 at the Long Beach Energy Resources Department Auditorium to share information and gather feedback on the proposed updates.
The Enhanced Density Bonus Ordinance aims to encourage the development of mixed-income and multi-family housing by offering developers a density bonus and development concessions in exchange for including affordable housing units on-site. This strategic approach directs housing development towards areas where growth is planned to occur.

Residents are invited to attend the workshop from 5:30 to 7 p.m. where they will have the opportunity to hear directly from the City's Planning Bureau and consulting firm RRM Design. Interpretation services in Spanish, Khmer, and Tagalog will be available upon request.
The feedback gathered at this workshop will play a crucial role in informing the ordinance update process. The draft is expected to be completed in Winter 2025, followed by public hearings and adoption in Spring 2026.
