LOS ANGELES - Californer -- With an emotional message for the Mexican community in the United States, the Mexican singer-songwriter Majo Aguilar unveiled her Estrella Maya on the Paseo de las Estrellas at Plaza México in Lynwood, California on Friday, October 30, 2026.
In the presence of national and international media outlets, the artist, originally from Mexico City, expressed her gratitude for the recognition she received for her career in traditional Mexican music.
"I'm honored and deeply moved because I recognize the work that my fellow Mexicans do in the United States, especially here in this very Mexican place, Plaza Mexico, where so many artists I admire have been recognized, such as José José, Jenny Rivera and Bronco," says the singer-songwriter.
She added that for her the recognition is a collective achievement shared with her fellow Mexicans who support her in the United States. "I'm very thankful. I accept this recognition with humility and with the hope that more beautiful things happen for our Mexican community."
Lynwood councilmember Rita Soto also honored Aguilar with a plaque and a certificate of recognition, emphasizing that the city welcomes those who wish to become part of the community.
During the unveiling of the Estrella Maya, made by the artist Manuel Plascencia, Majo praised the work ethic of her fellow Mexicans. "They do so much for their families and to provide food on the table, but often they aren't treated with dignity. It touches me deeply because while I take great pride in representing Mexican music, they are truly the ones who keep this place running," she expressed.
With the return of the iconic Paseo de las Estrellas, Plaza Mexico will celebrate the achievements of a new generation of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans that have excelled in the world of entertainment, sports and community work. The Estrella Maya awarded to honorees is a symbol that represents harmony, creation, and balance.
