LOS ANGELES, May 28, 2025 ~ A group of prominent MASH veterinarians, along with Curo Pet Care, have successfully acquired the assets of Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital (MASH) from Ethos Veterinary Health. The hospital, located at 6565 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, will continue to operate without any interruption to its services.
The decision to acquire MASH came after the hospital announced its plans to permanently close on June 22, 2025. However, the overwhelming support from staff, clients, and the broader veterinary community prompted a coalition of committed veterinarians to step in and preserve the hospital's place in the community.
According to Dr. Domenico Bianco, Medical Director at MASH, the hospital has always been more than just a workplace. It is a vital lifeline for pets and their families in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. "We knew we couldn't let that legacy end here," he stated.
The new ownership group consists of specialists from various departments such as Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Neurology, Dentistry, and Ophthalmology. These doctors have been an integral part of MASH's growth and are now leading the hospital into its next chapter.

Dr. Jeremy O'Neill, Head of the Neurology Department at MASH and part of the new ownership team, expressed their commitment to staying and caring for pets in their community. He also mentioned their plans to support local primary care veterinarians and build a stronger future for MASH.
Under this new leadership team, MASH aims to complete ongoing development projects to expand its capacity and enhance services to meet the increasing demands of pet owners in Los Angeles. They also plan on strengthening partnerships with referring veterinarians across the region and investing in staff development and advanced medical technology.
To ensure smooth operations during this transition period, Curo Pet Care has partnered with MASH as an equity partner. As a family-owned veterinary group based in San Francisco with extensive experience in hospital management, Curo will provide support in all areas of hospital operations while the veterinarians remain the key leadership team.
Jonas Pilkauskas, Chairman of Curo, expressed their excitement to work with the existing medical team at MASH and help grow it into the leading specialty emergency hospital in Southern California. "It's an honor to help carry forward the hospital's storied legacy and work with such a talented team," he said.
MASH will continue to operate at its current location without any interruption in patient care. All existing services and medical records will remain available and intact. For more information, please visit mash.vet.
