Newly published Brochure and PPE provides safety and covid awareness for South Central Families
LOS ANGELES - Californer -- In the heart of South Central Los Angeles, educational materials and PPE equipment were provided for residents from the Jordan Downs Housing Community at the Cedar Grove Community Center in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles as well as El Nido Family Centers.
Mona Clayton RN, also known by her global brand, "The Only Nurse Mona" is spearheading the "Stay Covid Safe" outreach program. Clayton is a healthcare professional, author, speaker and thought leader. She felt the need to educate and provide well-needed preventative equipment for residents at high risk for spreading and contracting the Covid-19 virus. With the assistance of multiple donors, The Nurses Pub Organization (of which Clayton is the CEO) fulfilled the need.

"I felt a need to target the residents of South Central LA because of the lack of resources and education regarding the control of Covid-19, and I reached out to donors to help with the cause," said Clayton. "The response was tremendous from organizations such as Stay Well Leola which provided over 130 bottles of sanitizer, Staples which provided printing, and Milcoast which provided masks. We also received donations for children masks, shields, and bags from various donors."
The event also included an educational component entitled "Stop the Spread: Understanding the Coronavirus." The brochure was published by The Nurses Pub, and the event included a lecture regarding hand washing, proper donning of PPE equipment, and answering questions about health challenges.
"The day proved to be very successful because I had an opportunity to speak with some of the residents seeking careers in nursing as well," said Clayton. "This opportunity was rewarding because the premise behind The Nurses Pub is to provide economic and career development through the "Art of Nursing" for individuals living in underserved communities."

The Nurses Pub is a leading non-profit support group for nursing students and is best known for its many programs that support students to include scholarships, professional development, mentorship, seminars, and workshops targeting individuals globally from the high school to graduate levels.
