BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Californer -- As a team building initiative, Thurman Orthodontics has pledged to participate in the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program as part of their continued efforts to spread smiles throughout the Bakersfield community. Thurman Orthodontics has pledged to donate $2,500 worth of gifts which will benefit about 50 children to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree initiative in Bakersfield.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree program is designed to raise in-kind gifts to assist families who are in crisis as a result of medical issues, unemployment, homelessness, or other difficult circumstances and who otherwise wouldn't have the resources to celebrate Christmas. The Salvation Army creates paper angels that list a specific child, their age, gender, gift wish and clothing sizes. Each team member of Thurman Orthodontics will be given the opportunity to choose an angel and provide them a gift on behalf of Thurman Orthodontics.
Dr. Michael Thurman loves Bakersfield and its residents, and he has made it a cornerstone of his practice philosophy to help make the Bakersfield community a better place to live in any way he can. Thurman Orthodontics is dedicated to supporting the Bakersfield community in a variety of ways, from its free "Cool Whip" ice cream truck that the practice donates to community events to annual partnerships with local Bakersfield nonprofit organizations such as Kern County Teen Challenge and the Bakersfield Burrito Project. In the spirit of the season, Thurman Orthodontics chose to support the Salvation Army's Angel Tree to bring smiles to children who don't typically receive holiday gifts.
