Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the streets of West Long Beach will be transformed into a safe and open space for people to bike, walk and explore their neighborhoods. This year's Beach Streets Open Streets event, hosted by the City of Long Beach and presented by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), aims to promote sustainable and healthy living while also uplifting the City's Westside Promise Initiative.
The event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., is a part of the City's efforts to embrace an active commuting lifestyle. By opening up the streets and encouraging different modes of transportation, Beach Streets promotes sustainable transportation options and supports local businesses. It also provides an opportunity for thousands of participants to get to know their neighbors in a family-friendly environment.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for this year's event, stating that it is not just about promoting healthy living but also about celebrating the diverse and vibrant community of Long Beach. He also highlighted the alignment with the Westside Promise Initiative, a 10-year community investment plan that aims to address current and historic challenges facing West Long Beach.

Stephanie Wiggins, Metro CEO, shared her enthusiasm for hosting this year's Beach Streets event. She stated that through Metro's Open Streets Grant Program, they have been bringing similar events to neighborhoods for over 10 years. These events have allowed hundreds of thousands of L.A. County residents to discover how walking, biking and transit can improve their health and quality of life.
The event route for this year will feature Willow Street and Santa Fe Avenue with entertainment hubs along the way offering live music, a kid zone, food trucks, and more. The City will provide more information about the event, including a detailed route and other highlights, at a later date.
