Jack Martin tells "the secret history of the United States" in his Alphonso Clay Mystery series that surrounds imagined incidents of American figures.
IRVINE, Calif. - Californer -- Captain Alphonso Clay has one mission: make sure that the Confederacy does not win the war. While he's at it, he also needs to root-out a murderous turncoat high up in the Union army infrastructure. The Union army is surrounded—and the spy could shatter them from within. Time is running out, and Clay doesn't know who to trust. To identify the traitor, he has to solve a murder, deal with a lethal female agent, and battle a monstrous secret society. If he fails, more than just his life is on the line—the very fate of the United States rests on his shoulders. The Siege of Knoxville releases July 10.
Martin expertly blends historical facts with thrilling fiction. "Teresa Duval is based on a woman who engaged in a murderous string of robberies about twenty years ago in Texas," Martin states. "She eventually stated that the act of violently spilling blood caused sexual climax. I suppose it reinforced my belief that evil is an actual, tangible thing that can take almost any form." The Siege of Knoxville is perfect for fans of Michael Shaara and Laird Hunt.
